SkyWarn Recognition Day

(From the December 2016 RARA Rag by Dunae Fregoe; K2SI)

SKYWARN Recognition Day will be December 3, 2016 (0000 – 2400 UTC). In local terms it
is Friday December 2nd, 7:00 PM till Saturday December 3rd, 7:00 PM. National Weather
Service offices across the country will be on the air for 24 hours. This special event was started in 1999. The goal is to contact as many weather service offices as possible using repeaters, IRLP, Echolink, and HF. This is a fun event for new hams that may only have a technician license. Many of the weather service offices will be on Echolink and IRLP.

The National Weather Service office in Buffalo will be participating again this year. Look for WX2BUF on Echolink and you can also check in on the 145.110 repeater. Submit your total number of weather service office contacts for a certificate from the National Weather Service. More information is available from: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mtr/hamradio/
