Tony; KC2VER is a life long techno geek, who was raised listening to and tearing apart radios. After time spent with family and friends, he enjoys keeping busy with many assorted interests and public service.

Involved in communications for over 30 years and licensed in Amateur Radio since 2009; Tony enjoys experimenting with antennas, QRP, SDR, as well as supporting public service and our local repeater owners as a ”doer of things”. Military and Public Service radio monitoring, as well as shortwave listening remain a major interest.

Tony also publishes the Amateur Radio blog/website (www.UpstateHam.com) and works to promote our great Upstate NY repeaters. He has worked hard to solicit accurate information and post an up-to-date list of area repeaters that are actually on-the-air. Through those efforts he has become quite familiar with the on-the-air repeaters from Buffalo east to the Hudson River. He is also a repeater owner and helped bring the first Digital Voice repeater to Syracuse N.Y. in early 2015. Tony was also one of a group of Amateur Radio Operators who spirited a campaign in early 2015 to revive the Upper NY Repeater Council (UNYREPCO) that is responsible for Repeater Frequency Coordination in (43) counties of NY State.

In support of public service, he has completed training and is certified in Homeland Security NIMS modules IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800. He is a SkyWarn spotter and has completed both Basic and Advanced, as well as, summer and winter SkyWarn training from the National Weather Service.

Professionally; Tony has over 30 years in Engineering and Engineering management for companies both large and small (stints with Motorola, Honeywell, Welch Allyn to name a few). He has served on his town Planning Board, as well as, with several volunteer not-for-profit boards and has also served six years as President of a 501-C3 corporation.
